Government shutdown

HA fooled you! This post is not going to be about the Government shutdown rather, it is going to be a DIY version of Jolly Rancher vodka.

I made this to bring to a friends party back in January and it turned out to be a big hit.  I apologize for not having any photos of the whole process, but I do have what my final product looked like.

MATERIALS

1. Bottles: I went online to Amazon and bought five wine flasks which hold 8.5 ounces of vodka.  They each cost around 9 dollars a bottle so budget 45-ish dollars for the glass bottles.  If you are interested in buying them here they are on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001UZOE6/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

2. Jolly Ranchers: I went to Wegmans and decided a dozen of the five favors would be enough for the size of the bottles I had.  You can buy more or less depending on what size your bottle is.

3. Vodka: I bought a handle of Svedka because having just a regular sized bottle would not have been enough vodka for the five wine flasks I was using.

4. You are going to want to have a funnel to pour the vodka into the bottles easier.  Having some paper towels around wouldn't hurt either.

PROCESS (start this 24-36 hours before drinking)

1.Unwrap all the flavors and put them in color coordinated order.
2. Fill the bottles with the 12 Jolly Ranchers first
3 Using the funnel pour in the vodka.  Remember do not pour in too much vodka because the candy in the bottle already takes up space
4. Shake the bottles thoroughly. Repeat this every 1-2 hours or so.  You don't have to wake up in the middle of the night just to shake them but every hour or so should do fine
5. Once the Jolly Ranchers have completely disintegrated into the vodka, you can either refrigerate or freeze the bottles so the vodka is nice and cold when you want to drink it
6. ENJOY

(L-R) Watermelon, Grape, Blue Raspberry, Green Apple, Cherry
This is what my final product came out as.  It looks awesome and tastes even better. Enjoy responsibly!
